About Bold Nest Decor | Hi, I'm Sophia Carter
I’m a home decor blogger and interior design graduate based in Portland, Oregon. Bold Nest Decor is where I share everything I’ve learned from my years studying design to the real decorating projects I’ve tackled in my own home and helped friends with over the years.
My love for interiors started long before I ever thought of starting a blog. Growing up, I was always the person rearranging furniture, obsessing over paint swatches, and dragging family members to home goods stores on weekends. That passion led me to study interior design formally, and what I learned there completely changed how I look at spaces.
After graduation, I didn’t just step into the industry. I stayed in it for over 10 years. I worked on residential styling projects of all kinds, helping families figure out furniture layouts that actually made sense for how they lived, building color schemes from scratch, and stretching tight budgets further than most people thought possible. I quickly realized that most people don’t need a full renovation. They need clear, practical guidance that actually works in real homes, not just magazine spreads.
That’s exactly why I started Bold Nest Decor in early 2026.

This blog is my way of making good design accessible to everyone. Every article I publish comes from genuine research, real design principles I studied and applied, and honest opinions based on what actually works.

My Design Philosophy
I believe that a well-decorated home doesn’t have to cost a fortune or require professional help. The right colour, the right placement, the right texture — small decisions create big impact. My approach is always rooted in balance, spaces should feel curated but lived-in, stylish but comfortable, inspiring but never overwhelming.
Over the years I’ve helped friends and family transform everything from cramped studio apartments to large family living rooms, always working with what they already have and building from there.
